A native of Seneca, South Carolina, Kesha received her high school diploma from Seneca High School. She continued her education at Tri-County Technical College where she studied Criminal Justice and then on to Anderson University where she studied Human Services with a concentration on behavioral management. In 2021, Lekesha was honored by trh Lighthouse Theological seminary as with a Doctorate of Christian Humanities, to recognize her statewide work and service to communities.
Kesha is the proud mother of two sons. The late Javaris Benson, who passed away in 2017 from Sudden Cardiac Arrest while participating in an intramural basketball game at Chowan University, and Jacory Benson, who obtained his MBA at South Carolina State University after his record-breaking career as a student-athlete. Kesha is presently the Founder and Executive Director of The NOLA (No Other Life Affected) Network, a non-profit organization that works to improve the health and educational outcomes for students and families by improving access to services. Lekesha has received national recognition for the work she does through the Nola Network's Keep the Beat Program. The organization has also recently launched another initative Kesha is also a small business owner of skincare product line, La Vita Lush, established in 2010. Lekesha has been employed by New Foundations Home for Children, since 2007.
ROOTED IN THE COMMUNITY
Lekesha is rooted in the Seneca Community. She is dedicated to enriching the lives of men, women and children through community engagement projects that intentionally bring people together.
Lekesha believes that engaging all community members in deliberate dialogue, community education initiatives, community events organizing, and economic development opportunities are just a few ways to ensure equitable representation in the City of Seneca’s growth and development. Seneca is a beautiful city with a promising future. Lekesha believes that education is the cornerstone of economic and individual prosperity. Understanding that the youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow, she would spend more time and money on initiatives that engage and educate them within this community. Currently, Lekesha has been chosen to represent the Carolina Family Engagement Center as the Upstate's Ambassador. She has also been honored to be chosen as the new youth mentor for the Oconee County Chapter of NAACP, and plays a vital role on the Empower Oconee's Youth Task Force. Lekesha is also a recent graduate of the Moorehouse School of Medicine's national co-hort of the Satcher Institute Community Health Leadership. For over twenty years, she has devoted her life to the enhancement of the community with her leadership and service to others. By joining Seneca's City council, she will be able to take the next step in a lifelong journey towards commitment and service to others.
