Putting My Experience
to Work
For over twenty years, I've worked to serve youth and families within the Upstate of South Carolina and beyond. And though I continue to work to advocate for youth within our community and beyond, I became starkly aware of community health needs after the death of my eldest son, Javaris "Vari" Benson. During that trying time in our lives, the greater community of Seneca surrounded myself and my son, Jacory, with more love and support than I'd ever have imagined.
I made a vow to repay that kindness with service to the youth and families within our state. I've been able to do that through my continued work in the nonprofit realm; however, my heart has led me to invest my knowledge, resources, and skills to honor the traditions of the community that raised me. My family is rooted in this community and I am committed giving my all to honoring the traditions of our town while embracing progress, so that our future is as brillant as our past.
